Welcome to the Hexham Tyne Bridge Webcam
This is a live view from the AMEC Wind Energy Office and will refresh every 30 seconds
Hexham Tyne Bridge was constructed in 1793 following the floods of 1771, when all other bridges on the Tyne except for the Bridge at Corbridge collapsed or were extensively damaged
More information of this and all other bridges crossing the Tyne can be found on Bridges On The Tyne an extremely informative site researched and designed by an enthusiastic Tynesider
The webcam was originally installed in 2004 to give live monitoring and advanced flood warnings for properties in the area. This proved invaluable during the flooding of January 2005 when the water rose to almost 7 meters, around 20 feet above normal river levels.
More photos and video grabs can be found of the flood on this page
Another webcam in Hexham and other useful information about the area can be found on the HexhamNet website
